Beautiful and Blessed - A Midyear Wedding

Today, Midyear Day, we celebrate and remember the union between King Elessar also known as Aragorn/Strider son of Arathorn II and Gilraen and Arwen Undómiel daughter of Elrond and Celebrian. Aragorn is crowned King Elessar on May 1. Elrond is finally happy to allow Arwen to marry Aragorn as he had promised now that he is the King of Gondor and Anor.

"My son, years come when hope will fade, and beyond them little is clear to me. And now a shadow lies between us. Maybe, it has been appointed so, that by my loss the kingship of Men may be restored. Therefore, though I love you, I say to you: Arwen Undómiel shall not diminish her life's grace for less cause. She shall not be the bride of any Man less than the King of both Gondor and Arnor. To me then even our victory can bring only sorrow and parting - but to you hope of joy for a while. For a while. Alas, my son! I fear that to Arwen the Doom of Men may seem hard at the ending." (J.R.R.Tolkien -The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen)

Elrond and Arwen will arrive in Minas Tirith on Mid-year's Eve. Elrond present Aragorn/King Elessar with the Sceptre of Annuminas signifying the Kingship of Arnor and he give his greatest gift to him , his daughter's hand . Aragorn and Arwen are married today on Mid-year's Day.

"and last came Master Elrond mighty among Elves and Men, bearing the sceptre of Annuminas, and beside him upon a grey palfrey rode Arwen his daughter, Evenstar of her people. And Frodo when he saw her come glimmering in the evening, with stars on her brow and a sweet fragrance about her, was moved with great wonder, and he said to Gandalf: 'At last I understand why we have waited! This is now the ending. Now not day only shall be beloved, but night too shall be beautiful and blessed and all its fear pass away!'"
(J.R.R. Tolkien -The Return of the King)

The Hobbits attend Aragorn's coronation before going back home.
Once in the Shire, Sam will marry Rosie, and Pippin catches her bouquet...lucky Pip ;)
