Forever King!

Gondor! Gondor, between the Mountains and the Sea!
West Wind blew there; the light upon the Silver Tree
Fell like bright rain in gardens of the Kings of old.
O proud walls! White towers! O winged crown and throne of gold!
O Gondor, Gondor! Shall Men behold the Silver Tree,
Or West Wind blow again between the Mountains and the Sea?
(J.R.R.Tolkien -Aragorn's Song of Gondor, 'The Riders of Rohan')

Noble Aragorn, King of Men, Ranger of the North and hero of the Fellowship of the Ring will be forever associated to Viggo Mortensen, one of the best male actors on this generation. His portray of Aragorn was superb , he brought Tolkien's character to life in a performance that would made Tolkien himself proud. What can you do if you already played the greatest role in the greatest story ever written? Viggo apparently is opting for early retirement from the movie industry after the release of his latest movie "The Road" to spend more time as a publisher, poet and photographer. The only thing he would consider for now is to take part in The Hobbit, if he was asked and I truly, truly, truly hope this will happen because only he can be Aragorn. There is something very special in his eyes, softness and depth, Viggo has the eyes of a poet and of an artist. His work outside acting is truly inspirational .

Art, Music & Poetry of Viggo Mortensen

EDIT (September 13, 2009) : Viggo Mortensen has dismissed earlier reports from last week about him leaving the the movie industry, claiming his remarks were misinterpreted. Talking in Toronto, while promoting his latest movie 'The Road' he lashed out at the media. for attributing to him claims he never made.

"I was just honest with someone a little while back who asked me if I had a movie lined up. I said 'no' and they wrote 'Oh, he's quitting.' I never said it,"
